Once a year the DCC board of directors intentionally seeks a unique setting to gather in person to deepen our friendships, evaluate our journey together as an organization, and dream of ways we can continue to serve the church globally by promoting and facilitating life giving relationships as a part of God’s mission.
At the very start of this summer season we were able to do just that in what we might say was one of the most unique gathering spaces we have shared to date!
Through a wonderful Kingdom connection and friendship that we share with James and Erin Henderson, a couple serving the organic community centered church movement in Mexico and participants in the newly emerging RdC Mexico, we were blessed with a DCC board retreat at the Henderson family ranch in remote Vincent, OK!
Our courageous and adventurous board members made their way from around the country to Oklahoma City, and journeyed to the remote southwest corner of the state to the OR ranch. Up on a ridge overlooking a winding river and an expansive horizon we settled in to concentrate on our shared community and mission as DCC.
We had incredible meals around the table, shared laughter and prayer and a lot of conversation around the vision and mission of DCC.
God met us there and instilled hope and even more passion for what we feel He has called us to accomplish – through relationships!
The experience that made this annual gathering even more unique and incredibly special, was our participation with the Henderson clan in one of their season round ups! Yes, our board brands, vaccinates, tags and castrates cattle as a part of our dynamic life together!
We haven’t yet come up with an enlightened analogy of how that experience connects with our mission, but we’re sure one exists. The new, shared experience and friendship with James’ family is more than enough to potentially tie the two together!
We want to thank the Henderson's for the gracious gift of hospitality and thank God for instilling DCC with our relational DNA that allows for such significant connections.
